New in 2024!
We are thrilled to announce a brand new collaboration between the Leadville Trail 100 Legacy Foundation and Community Threads, a locally-owned clothing and sporting goods consignment store in Leadville.
Bring your new or gently used gear to Leadville this summer and donate it at one of the Leadville Race Series event expos. You can make some space for more adventure in your life and your donation will help support a great cause - the LT100 Legacy Foundation!
Proceeds from the consignment of these items will support Leadville Trail 100 Scholarships and the Legacy Grants program.
Smokey & Sweet Pea at the Leadville Pack Burro Race 2018
Smokey at the LT100 MTB in 1997
Meet Smokey Burgess,
owner of Community Threads
Smokey moved to Leadville in 1996 and kicked off his Leadville Race Series career the following year when he completed his first LT100 MTB. He’s a 3-time finisher of the LT100 Run and an 8-time pacer, with more crew and volunteer hours than he likes to admit. As a past LT100 Run Camp guide - he knows a thing or two about ultra sports!
His passion for running began in childhood and saw him achieve All American Runner for Western State College in the ‘90’s along with State Snowshoe Champion of Colorado in 2017.
Rescuing a feral donkey named Sweet Pea moved him on to his next athletic adventure, competing in over 30 Pack Burro Races throughout Colorado, and he’s even tried his hand at canine skijoring.
Smokey opened Community Threads in 2009, and it’s been a Harrison Avenue staple ever since.
When he’s not working you’ll find Smokey at his ranch, ‘Grateful Acres’, with his wife Erin, 5 donkeys, 6 chickens, 2 turkeys, 1 really cantankerous goose named Lou, and their dog Oliver.
Smokey is excited to kick off the ‘Gear for Good’ program this summer and have the opportunity to use his small business to help give back to Leadville by supporting the LT100 Legacy Foundation.
